Make August Your Permission Slip

As I map out my very "back to routine" August schedule, I can't help from smiling at the new beginning that is coming.
Even if you haven't packed a backpack in years, this time of the year can still feel familiar. The memory of mom tugging at your belt loop to make sure your new pants fit. Tieing up a crisp pair of new shoes. Setting the alarm clock after a summer of sleeping in. Not everyone is prepping to send a kid back to school but almost all of us remember what this season felt like. New teachers. New routines. New friends. New things to learn. We walked into that first day wide-eyed, not knowing all the amazing things the year had in store for us.
And just like the school year starts, life in the brewery starts to shift. The bustling Galveston season comes to a slow. Summer crowds begin to settle. Oktoberfests beers are hitting tap walls and store shelves. The patio starts to feel a little different (and let's be honest... quieter). There is something in the air that just... changes.
But, it's not the end of summer.
It's simply the beginning of what's next. New beers are talked about. New menu items. New events for the next season. It is the natural shift, that happens every time this year.
So whether you're dropping a kid off for their first day of school or simply realizing you've got a few more months left in the year to start that thing you've been putting off... consider August your permission slip. Your pass to begin again, in the middle of the year. Don't think about what you should have done the past 7 months, but what you can do the last 5 months of the year.
This school year remember... a fresh notebook isn't the only thing that gets a clean page.
Until next time,
The Beer Philosopher
